Amazônia Alive
Amazônia Alive is a book inspired by the legend of Naiá, an Indigenous woman transformed by the moon into the star of the waters, the giant water lily, with the mission of protecting the forest and its riches. Amid the COP30 movement and the challenges facing the Amazon, the book brings together characters, rhythms, knowledge, and traditions that help tell the story of the region’s identity, reinforcing the importance of preserving the forest, its knowledge, and the communities that keep it alive.
The project expanded beyond the pages with an exhibition at the Museum of Art of Rio (MAR), photographed by Maurício Nahas and styled by Labo Young; two water lily-shaped storytelling vinyl records narrated by Gaby Amarantos; and a special concert on a floating stage in the heart of the Amazon, featuring artists such as Mariah Carey, Joelma, Gaby Amarantos, Dona Onete, and Zaynara.
